My son pointed out baby swans (cygnets) at the park the other day, and was thoroughly charmed by them.
I asked him, “Are they ugly ducklings?”
He said, “yes!” 🙂

I may have responded to this already but I definitely love ducklings. My very first pet was one.
I wrote a story about her in the 4th grade and it won an award, only from the school principal, but it planted a seed about writing.
